چکیده

We present the results of numerical and experimental studies of the elastic enhancement factorW for microwave rough and rectangular cavities simulating two-dimensional chaotic and partially chaotic quantum billiards in the presence of moderate absorption. We show that for the frequency range ν = 15.0−18.5 GHz, in which the coupling between antennas and the system is strong enough, the values of W for the microwave rough cavity lie below the predictions of random matrix theory and on average above the theoretical results of V. Sokolov and O. Zhirov, Phys. Rev. E 91, 052917 (2015). We also show that for the partially chaotic rectangular billiard the enhancement factor W calculated by applying the Potter–Rosenzweig model with κ = 2.8± 0.5 is close to the experimental one.

Modified Fixed Grid Finite Element Method in the Analysis of 2D Linear Elastic Problems

In this paper, a modification on the fixed grid finite element method is presented and used in the solution of 2D linear elastic problems. This method uses non-boundary-fitted meshes for the numerical solution of partial differential equations. Special techniques are required to apply boundary conditions on the intersection of domain boundaries and non-boundary-fitted elements. Hence, a new met...

Force Reduction Factor R for Shear Dominated Low-Rise Brick Masonry Structures

This paper presents investigation carried out, including experimental and numerical studies, on low-rise shear-dominated brick masonry structures for the calculation of force reduction factor R. Basic experimental tests were conducted on masonry constituent materials for mechancial characterization. In-plane quasi-static cyclic tests were conducted on twelve full scale brick masonry walls, to u...

Study of the elastic enhancement factor and nearest neighbor spacing distribution for partially chaotic and chaotic systems

We will present the results of experimental studies of the elastic enhancement factor W and the nearest neighbors spacing distribution P(s) for microwave rectangular and rough cavities simulating two-dimensional quantum billiards in a transient region between regular and chaotic dynamics [1] and in a pure chaotic dynamics region, respectively. The analogy between microwave cavities and quantum ...

Elastic Enhancement Factor: Mesoscopic Systems versus Macroscopic 2D Electromagnetic Analogue Devices

Excess of probabilities of the elastic processes over the inelastic ones is a common feature of the resonance phenomena described in the framework of the random matrix theory. This effect is quantitatively characterized by the elastic enhancement factor F (β) that is the typical ratio of elastic and inelastic cross-sections. Being measured experimentally, this quantity can supply us with inform...
